About Normandy Guitars
*Note – we are not the manufacturer ‘Normandy Guitars’, we are simply a blog about guitars, based out of Normandy.
My guitar blog was born a passion and love of acoustic guitars and the smooth, unique sound of the music that run through your body when strumming the strings, any time of the day. In 2007, I started this blog with the aim of becoming THE go-to resource for guitarists to learn and improve online. After 15 ‘false starts’, a few holidays, and a whole lot of research and jamming, NormandyGuitars.com was born.
Throughout my life, I’ve found huge amounts of unexpected inspiration from traveling guitarists while living and traveling in the northern hemisphere – mainly France, Scandinavia, and the United Kingdom. I don’t know what it was about these encounters, but this is where the inspiration for this blog came from, and hence, I named in Normandy guitars. No, not the place in France, but if you look into the origins of the word “Normandy” you’ll find it quite interesting. Norman: Normaundie; from Old French Normanz, plural of Normant, originally from the word for “northman” in several Scandinavian languages (I’m quoting Wikipedia here).
Anyway, despite the origins of the name, you’ll find everything you need here to get you inspired to play more guitar, and make better decisions about your music. Want to learn new songs or scales? We have you covered in our learning library. Or maybe you’re in the market for a new acoustic guitar, bass guitar or aluminium electric piece? Our gear reviews and guides will walk you through exactly how to choose the right one for you needs. Whatever your needs may be, you’ll find something in our blog, or amongst our pages.
