RAT ROD – the inspiration for this color comes from ‘Rat Rods’, hot rod cars designed to embellish the features of the original rods of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Back then, owners preferred to spend money on engine performance rather than fancy paint, so most of their machines were painted primer black or gray. This underground look translates well to our instruments, and the super flat texture looks really cool against all of the chrome hardware.
The powder coated finishes on our guitars are applied using a special “baked-on” finish that is electro-statically bonded to the guitar bodies. The resulting finish is extremely durable and far superior to the standard paint, stain, or varnish typically found on guitars.
